(1981)

Made shortly after Francis Monkman's replacement by Steve Gray, this album was an indication of things to come: fewer serious weighty pieces and more of a jazz feel and sound, obvious from the first few tracks.
The highlights are those pieces which would remain in SKY's repertoire for the remainder of their performing career, namely "Hello" (Steve's turn at the simple tune), "Meheeco" and "Westwind". "Dance Of The Big Fairies", as the name indicates, was a bit of silliness, and John proves himselves a fine arranger for this particular combo with his take on Handel.

Last year -1980- was both highly memorable and contrasting - our first double album; the opportunities to tour abroad with all our crew who had already contributed so much to our career; the first appearance of Herbie masquerading as Noddy (!) and, also in October, Francis Monkman's decision to leave the band. What he gave SKY as a founder member, a composer and our keyboard player is there for everyone to hear on our first two records and we'd like to express our gratitude to him for everything and wish him well in the future. Equally we now all very much want to publicity welcome Steve Gray who is not in any way a facsimile of Francis u is as you can hear, quite different and who has already given us progression as well as continuity in areas PLT and SKY
